FIT Program
Developed by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) in conjunction with the ICT industry, FIT is a unique, two-year program designed to seamlessly integrate practical career training with the current high-school curriculum. It offers students opportunities to consider ICT as a career choice through activities like:
· Real-world business simulations
· Computer language literacy
· Hands-on networking expertise
· Media, Graphics and Communications explorations
· Acquisition of valuable workplace skills, including effective communications, teamwork and problem-solving
Teachers are given much of what they’ll need to help students succeed – educational and career information materials, validated learner outcomes to meet individual provincial education ministry standards, web and newsletter support – plus active involvement from industry leaders committed to the next generation. That commitment can also take the form of industry-sponsored work experience/internship/co-op placements.
On successful completion of the FIT program, students will:
· Receive nationally recognized, résumé-ready FIT accreditation
· Be ready to take industry standard certifications such as A+/IT Essentials, Net+/CCNA, Java or other industry recognized areas of study
· Potentially receive advanced standing for post-secondary studies
