Bursaries and Loans

You may apply for a bursary and/or a loan from the government. The Canada Student Loan Program is designed to cover shortfalls between what parents and benefactors can provide. The program is available in all provinces and territories except Quebec and the Northwest Territories, who have their own student assistance plans. (Quebec residents may contact http://www.afe.gouv.qc.ca/ and Northwest Territories residents, please contact your territorial Student Assistance Office for student loans at http://www.nwtsfa.gov.nt.ca/)

Student loan eligibility:

• You must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
• You must show that you need the financial help by filling out a form declaring your resources.
• You must be enrolled in at least 60% of a full-time course.
• The program must be at least 12 weeks in length.
• The institution you choose must be approved by the Canada Student Loan Program. (Most post-secondary institutions are eligible)
